Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs) are businesses that are exempt from measurement in terms of the Dti's codes of Good Practice for BEE. They automatically qualify as 100% contributors towards BEE, this offers small South African businesses the opportunity to grow as a result of BEE irrespective of the make-up of the shareholding.

Attentus Accounting & Tax Solutions can assist with your requirements, for a business with a turnover of less than R10 million, a BB-BEE certificate is not required. Business owners can complete an Affidavit, signed by a Commissioner of Oaths, and hand it in, instead of the BB-BEE certificate. Once the Affidavit has been stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths, the Affidavit serves as a BEE certificate as no other verification is required for Exempted Micro Enterprises usually.
